Skip Bin Waste Types
- General Waste
This is the most commonly booked waste type, particularly for home owners or residential customers.
General waste allows for a variety of different items to be placed in the bin, such as household items, light demolition waste, light green waste, office waste, electrical and other items.
- Soil
Soil skip bins are hired where soil is the only item to be placed in the skip. This is common where customers are doing excavation work.
Soil becomes very heavy when placed in a skip bin, so it’s important to hire this type of bin when you intend to have large amounts of soil in the skip.
You cannot put other types of waste in a soil bin.
- Concrete
Concrete skip bins are hired where concrete is the only item to be placed in the skip. This is common where customers are removing old concrete work such as driveways and footpaths.
Concrete becomes very heavy when placed in a skip bin, so it’s important to hire this type of bin when you intend to have large amounts of concrete in the skip.
You cannot put other types of waste in a concrete bin.
- Heavy Waste
Heavy waste skip bins are hired where a project consists of a variety of heavy items, such as a combination of soil, bricks, concrete rubble, pavers, landscaping, construction and similar.
The maximum weight allowance on these bins will be greater than that of a general waste bin, so it’s important to take note of the max waste limits on each skip bin.
- Green Waste
Green waste bins are used mostly by landscapers or residential customers that are embarking on a large scale garden / landscape tidy up.
These bins may include green waste only, such as grass clippings, branches and tree trimmings, palm fronds.
- Not Allowed Items
Each bin can contain specific items and may also have unique items that are not allowed.
There is also a universal list of not-allowed items which includes asbestos, batteries, food waste, gas bottles / fire extinguishers, liquids including wet plaster and wet concrete, oils, paints and tyres.
