Frequently Asked Questions

Below is a collection of the most common questions we are asked relating to our skip bin hire service.

A cubic metre (m³) is a unit of measure for volume described as 1m x 1m. To help you visualise this, a level loaded 6×4 box trailer, or Ute is approx. one cubic metre. Four wheelie bins are also approximately one cubic metre.
We offer a flat rate which includes delivery, collection, tipping, GST and up to 1 week onsite, we can be flexible if you require for longer. If you need a hand to load the skip efficiently, please let us know when you book, we can do this for no extra charge.
We accept payment through our online booking system, card or cash on delivery, Visa or MasterCard over the phone or Bank Transfer on/prior to delivery. Please call if you have any questions regarding your booking.
You can have the skip bin onsite for up to 1 week. We are flexible if you require it for a shorter or longer time, just call our office to discuss pricing and terms.
As a general guide, the maximum load for bins is 1 tonne per cubic metre; however, bins larger than 6m3 have additional limits applied to them. This is the safe lifting & transport limit.
We deliver skip bins 7 days a week 6am to 6pm – most areas
Depending on the availability of bins we can usually deliver the bin the same day. However, 24 hours’ notice is sufficient to secure your preferred time frame.
Our trucks require a minimum width of 2.5 metres to get through any gates or narrow ways. The trucks are 3.4 metres tall and can require a height clearance of up to 3.8 metres with the booms/arms extended depending on the size of the bin.

We encourage property owners to have the skip contained well within their own property. This helps to prevent others from placing unwanted/prohibited items in the skip bin. If that is not possible, we can place the bin on the footpath but cannot block pedestrian access.

Some councils require a permit if the skip is to be onsite for more than 48 hours. Any permits required is the responsibility of the homeowner or contractor. Any fines rests with the same homeowner or contractor. Lion Skip Bin Hire will NOT be held liable for any fines for improper placement of the skip bin. Please check directly with your council for permits:
